A discount does not have to apply to your whole catalog or to every shopper. You can point it at specific products, and you can reserve it for specific groups of customers.
Apply This Discount To¶
The Apply this discount to setting has three options.
The discount applies to the whole order. This is the default and the right choice for most loyalty rewards.
Pick individual products, or individual variants of a product. Useful for clearing a specific line, or for rewards tied to one hero item.
Pick one or more collections. This is usually the easier option to maintain: add a product to the collection in Shopify and the discount covers it automatically, with nothing to update in JeriCommerce.
Choosing the Products¶
Click Add products or Add collections and Shopify's own picker opens over the page. Search, tick what you want, and confirm.

Your selection appears as a list underneath. Click Remove on any row to take it out, or open the picker again to add more.
Free shipping is the one type with no targeting, since shipping is charged on the order rather than on individual items. Buy X get Y has two targets instead of one: what the customer buys and what they get.
Customer Eligibility¶
By default any customer with a valid code can use it. Switch Customer eligibility to Specific segments to limit the discount to chosen Shopify customer segments, and only shoppers in those segments will be able to apply the code at checkout.

Two Layers of Rules¶
It is worth understanding how these two systems sit on top of each other:
| Layer | What it controls | Where you set it |
|---|---|---|
| JeriCommerce segments | Who can see and redeem the reward or coupon | The reward or coupon editor |
| Shopify segments | Whose checkout will accept the code | The discount generator |
