Setup Options

You can set up your JeriCommerce program using the following options to define how often tiers are recalculated and how tier points are earned.

Cycle Types

These options determine the frequency of the Recalculation process:

  • None: Tiers never reset automatically (lifetime accumulation).
  • Lifetime: Same as "None" - tiers accumulate forever.
  • Calendar: Recalculation happens at the end of each calendar year.
  • Enrollment: Recalculation happens on each customer's enrollment anniversary (one year from when they joined).

Balance Types

These options define the metric used to calculate tier points:

  • Currency: Tier points are based on the total money spent (in your program currency).
  • Points: Tier points are based on loyalty points earned (excluding reward redemptions).

Tier Names, Benefits, Images, and Translations

Each tier can include customer-facing content that appears in loyalty surfaces such as the Loyalty Hub.

  • Name: The public tier name customers see.
  • Advantage: The customer-facing description of the tier benefits.
  • Image: An optional tier image shown in the customer loyalty app and Loyalty Hub tier cards. For the best result, upload a square PNG or WebP image at 512 × 512 pixels.
  • Translations: Localized tier names and descriptions for each language active in your program.

Use the locale toolbar in the tier editor to review each language before saving. Auto-translate can help draft translated tier copy, but you should still check brand terms and benefit names.

Customers can swipe through the tier cards in the loyalty app. The carousel opens on their current tier, and programs without tier images keep the same compact card layout.

Best Practices for Merchants

Following these guidelines will help ensure your tier system is engaging and successful.

Setting Up Tiers

  • Start Simple: Begin with 2-3 tiers to test the system and manage complexity.
  • Meaningful Thresholds: Set tier requirements that encourage engagement but remain achievable for your target customer base.
  • Clear Benefits: Make sure each tier offers distinct, valuable benefits to incentivize progression.
  • Regular Review: Monitor tier distribution and adjust thresholds as needed to maintain program health.

Managing Customer Expectations

  • Communicate Clearly: Let customers know how tiers work and when recalculation happens (based on your chosen cycle type).
  • Highlight Benefits: Show customers what they gain at each tier level to reinforce value.
  • Encourage Engagement: Use tier progress as motivation for repeat purchases.

Monitoring

Regularly track the following metrics to ensure the system is performing correctly:

  • Track how many customers are in each tier.
  • Monitor tier change notifications to ensure they are being sent correctly.
  • Review recalculation results to understand customer retention patterns and status changes.
